Good Reads and Bad Deeds

The Carnival of Homeschooling this week is at Palm Tree Pundit.  Everything looks nice under a coconut tree:

114th Carnival of Homeschooling

Welcome to the 114th Carnival of Homeschooling! It’s March, and we’re homeschoolers, so let’s learn a few facts about this month as we check out the entries to this week’s carnival:

~The name of March comes from  Mars, the Roman god of war. In ancient Rome, March was the first month of the year.

I’m way behind and am taking a quick look at what’s happening with legislative micromanagers in Springfield. This bill caught my eye:

Creates the Parents and Community Accountability Study Committee to examine issues related to racial and socioeconomic disparities affecting the pro-social development of children and youth, to identify ways to engage more parents in being accountable for the actions of their children, and to identify ways to engage more communities in being accountable for investing in pro-social development of children and families.

What does "pro-social development" mean anyway?  I can say that I find it highly ironic that this creepy committee is proposed by IL legislators regarding parents "being accountable for the actions of their children".  Where is the accountability to the Constitution?  It’s sponsored by Representatives  Constance A. Howard and Esther Golar.

I started something that I thought was just going to be links about the California homeschool situation, but what was I thinking?  I can’t just do links.  I like to ramble.
