Martin Luther King Jr. – His Dream of Love

“…love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend. We never get rid of an enemy by meeting hate with hate; we get rid of an enemy by getting rid of enmity. By its very nature, hate destroys and tears down; by its very nature, love creates and builds up. Love transforms with redemptive power.” MLK Jr.

The above quote was part of a Dexter Avenue Baptist Church 1957 sermon delivered in Montgomery, Alabama. Martin Luther King wrote those words in jail in the midst of the Montgomery bus boycott.

Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”  MLK Strength to Love 1963

The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
